Since the hardfork for the DAO hack the ethereum smart-contract platform has been in a down-spiral. With network downtime due to numerous attacks countless protocol bugs and 3 hard-forks while getting attacked after every fork with success which crippled the network and was cause for new hardforks. Its apparent that ethereum is unsustainable for projects developing dapps (decentralised applications). Numerous dapps projects ceased to use ethereum as it’s described by developers: Using Ethereum is like building a house on top of quicksand.
Startups cannot afford the extra developing time and money it takes to keep up with the constant forks of the ethereum smart-contract protocol.
Issues for Exchanges & Wallet providers
Protocol interruptions and issues with Ethereum is causing technical problems for exchanges and wallets. Chinese exchange BTCC has already taken the precaution NOT to add ethereum to its trading engine. Will Ethereum work, is it sustainable?
lets have a quick look at all the issues and timeline from the last few months.
After another HardFork to fix one attack, Ethereum network receives another successful attack, bringing the network to its knees.
More attacks, network failing, another hardfork needed again.
WE NEED TO HARD FORK AGAIN
*** The Solidity bug ***
has the entire core protocol in question.
its become more a speculative bubble then a working smart-contract platform to build dapps.
